when you got no roots you get blown around
like tumbleweed in an old ghost town
you pray for a mercy wind to carry you down
someplace by the river
you can only run for so long
trying to forget where you come from
And then you hear that river song?
Calling you home to the river
cause you’re a river child but your spirits dry
the river feels your pain and hears your cry
and it knows that your soul will surely die
if you don’t get back to the river
if the water be wild or it be still
go right in and drink your fill
and let that river take you where it will
you’ll come alive in the river
let that river take you where ever it will
you were born in the river
