He walks out on another morning, yawning
Takes nothing by surprise, dull eyes
It’s all the same as yesterday, under the same choking skies
The houses, noise,s lights and voices
Choices crowd his heavy senses
Keeping up the old defences
Oh but he knows how it feels to be dying inside
He has his armchair fantasies. adventures realities
Courtesy of the T.V. companies
Though he no longer seems to know which of his lives is real
But there must be happy lives because he has often seen them advertised
They come free with the things you buy at least that is the lie
He likes to believe
Is there life, is there life, is there life on earth?
Once in the city castaway on a traffic island
He lifted his eyes to the desert skyline
Where silhouetted against a bloody horizon
He dreamed he saw Jesus dying But the crowd surged forward when the traffic stopped
The vision was lost behind an office block
Stepping onto a bus he forgot
And just watched the dirty rain failing
Is there life, is there life, is there life on earth?
Superman spaceman but we’re losing the human race man
And no-one seems to ask questions anymore
Is this what life is really for?
Is this really life at all?
But the crowd surged forward when the traffic stopped
The vision was lost behind an office block
Stepping onto a bus he forgot
And just watched the dirty rain failing
Is there life, is there life, is there life on earth?
is there life, is there life, is there life on earth?
