Lying there
With an empty faraway look in his eyes
Holding on
Not really wanting to, as he cries
I hold his hand assuring he can leave
Letting go, won’t be easy I can see
But he can’t stay around here any longer
‘Cause what mattered most is already gone
He doesn’t want to live here
But he’s not sure he can go
He spends his days a stranger on his own
‘Cause he knows his heart’s already home
We journey on
Treating every step we take as hallowed ground
Knowing God
And the purpose He has patterned all around
Trusting’s never easy to believe
But faith leads us when we cannot see
Heaven’s just a prayer away
And one day I will see
When the yearning for home
Starts calling me
And I won’t stay around here any longer
‘Cause what mattered most is already gone
I won’t want to live here
But I’m not sure I could go
I’ll spend my days a stranger on my own
‘Cause I’ll know my heart’s already home
Yes, I’ll know my heart’s already home
It’s already home, already home
